Schools in Ras al Khaimah

The majority of expatriate in RAK lives in Al Hamra Village or Mina Al Arab, which are both located on the beautiful coastline. There are also shopping facilities around Al Hamra such as the Al HamraMall and the Spinney’s supermarket, fashion and electronicstores, etc. there’s also a food court and an extension which houses a Vox cinema complex. Mina Al Arab also houses a supermarket and pharmacy.

The schools offer school buses transport and picking up the children from the doorstep in both communities (Mina al Arab & Al Hamra Village) as well as dropping them back after school.

At this point there are two schools where expatriates can enroll their children.

RAK Academy

Originally founded on January 17th 1975, opening under the name RAK English Speaking with just 20 primary school students, Ras Al Khaimah Academy is one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious international schools in the UAE. Approximately 16 years ago the total number of students in the school hovered around the 100 mark.  As the school’s reputation grew, so interest in the school grew from within the local Emirati population.

The Secondary School opened in 1994 and the school enrolment began to gradually grow to an average almost 20% per year. The prestigious programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma and Primary Years Programme) were established in 2006 and a British Primary School Curriculum was adopted in 2007. Today RAK Academy welcomes over 2,800 students every day from over 60 nationalities. More information about RAK Academy here

GEMS Westminster School
